  • Students become more competitive when they see others work and strive to do better
  • You can use student projects from one year to teach the next years students
  • Have student record a video of them self if they don't like presenting in front of class
  • Have students turn in assignment and then give them areas to fix and have them turn in for a higher grade
Rubrics-
  • Make sure to give students rubric ahead of time
  • Have students help you create the rubric so they know what is expected of them

Google Classroom: In Depth

Short review of how to get started with Google Classroom.
Create a class
    Students can join class by typing in the class code
    Teacher can add the students by searching them in the directory
About Tab- about your classroom

You can Invite a Teacher into your classroom so they can post to your class as well.  Works great for Team Teachers!

Stream- It is like a facebook feed where everything that you post is listed there.  As you post new assignments, it pushes the older ones down the stream.

You can hide things from the Stream so that students do not see it anymore
You can always go back to show that later if you need them to view it again later

Assignments-  The assignments that are due for your class
you can see who has completed and who has not

After students have completed an assignment they 'turn it in'
Then you can go through and check the assignment and give them a grade
Once you return the assignment to the student then fix their mistake and re submit the assignment (of course if you want them to)

Files-  Can share files with students
       Edit-can edit file
       View- Students can view the file
      Copy- make a copy for each student so that each student can then edit that document on their own

Youtube- can easily insert video from youtube right from Google Classroom and not having to go to Youtube

Link- can provide links to specific links for the students to go to to do research

Subject Specific Ideas:
Graphic Organizers-
Link to list of graphic organizers created in Google Drawing

Science-
Food Webs- show a video about a food web (magic school bus) or on Youtube then have students complete their own food web in Google Drawing
      
Create a spreadsheet- students take the words and match them with the definitions by just dragging the word to match up with the definition

      Create a Food Web using multiple food chains- Students use google drawing to create a food web.  Students can put in a background picture of the biome that they are creating the food web of, then put in pictures of the animals in that biome and draw arrows to show the transfer of energy

   Create a presentation with questions that students need to answer.  You can use your textbooks for resources that students need to go back to the book to find more information

Categorize- producers, consumers, decomposers

Capacity-  find the different capacity measurements and show examples of each using a google drawing or slides


Math- 
Length conversion- give them different destinations where they need to find the distance between them and then convert the distances to different measurements
Students use google maps to find the distances and then answer questions using a Google Doc

How to save money-
Create a Google Slide and Share it with all the students so they will go in and input their answers.
They will need to research to find the information- use the research tool to do their research right in the google slide

Elapsed Time- 

Math word problem-
Create a Google Drawing and write in the word problem at the top.  give the students the blocks and manipulatives needed to solve the problem.

Use virtual Die and roll it and then chart the frequency of each roll

Social Studies-  
Use google maps to find directions from one place to another

Have students take a tour of a city and stop at a specific place
Have them answer questions about those places that they need to stop at

Architecture-
Create a Google Doc with pictures of different places and ask questions about those places.  Have the students type in their answers.
Could also have the students type in their questions about that place.

Reading-
You can create graphic organizers in Google Drawing and then share those with your students to complete
